Join us at the farm on November 8th from 12pm-2pm for an educational hands-on workshop all about digging, dividing and storing your dahlia tubers. Limited spots available.
Once our first hard frost hits each year, we will dig up our dahlia tuber clumps to divide and store them for the winter. By dividing the tubers, you can multiply your own stock of a certain variety, sell them, or trade with friends. Each tuber clump can give you anywhere from 4-20+ new tubers that will match the tuber parent plant.
Allison will be giving an in depth demonstration on digging up and dividing tuber clumps. We will also go over the optimal methods for storing tubers and talk about different storage mediums. Each member will be able to practice digging and dividing their own clump and get to take your divided clumps home with you. You will also receive a few tubers as a gift from some of our best producing varieties.
Here are a few things to bring and remember for the workshop:
- Bring a pair of sharp snips.
- Bring a pitchfork or shovel.
- Be ready to get dirty. Wear clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting mud and dirt on.
